Folklife Collection - Folk Poet, Arnulfo Castillo

by Salisbury University Students (1977)

1 folder (0.1 linear feet)

In 1977, former Salisbury University student Inez Cardozo-Freeman collected folk life material. For this collection, the student chose to focus on Arnulfo Castillo, a Mexican Folk Poet in Ohio. Arnulfo Castilloused a traditional Mexican folk forms known as the "corrido", which is a sort of narrative folk song in ballad. This paper is mainly composed of samples of this form of folk poem with a thorough explanation of the meaning and the context in which it was written.
